Gutierrez Will Introduce Amnesty Legislation Next Week,Can We Be ured It Will Include Border Security?
He'll no doubt try to introduce it. I strongly doubt, however, that the House will back it or even want to discuss, given that they haven't even managed to agree on healthcare legislation. And with the unemployment rate likely to top 12% next year, even Democratic Congress critters will find it hard to support it and explain why to their constituents in states that have been hard hit, such as my home state of Michigan. Gutierrez promised to introduce a bill months ago and didn't. The idea is that there's a "window" of opportunity between now and April before electioneering for the fall starts in earnest, so he may well be trying to squeeze a bill in. However, the minute he does I will be on the phone to my Congress critters to remind them that I'm a Democrat, that I voted for them, and that I strongly oppose amnesty not only on my own behalf, but on behalf of my two Mexican-American nephews who would end up competing with legalized illegal aliens for what few jobs remain.
