How to fix buzz trimmers/shears?

I have a wahl buzz trimmer/shears that I use to shave my kids heads. They complained this last time that it was pulling their hair. How do I fix this? Do I need to oil it, sharpen the blades (if possible-will need info on how), or will taking it apart and cleaning above what I have already done....work?
