What can i do to meet more women in my area?

i moved to oakland awhile ago to get ready for college because u need one yr's residency. now that im done w/ skool ive been looking to get out a bit more, socialize, meet new ppl. im from the east coast & so i dont know much about the area im in & dating sites haven't really done too much. at 19, what can i do to meet more women in my area?
