Immoral Debt Lawsuit REDICULOUS?

Okay, so After i had my baby the pump i rented from Optimum Wellness LLC was a month or so late, due to my newborn having complications. It was returned safely with a hundred dollar late fee. Now the debt collectors (After numerous cell phone calls and 3 bills) are saying there is a lawsuit against me. I am Unemployed with a special needs child. I am also a college student trying to make a better life for my family. So what now. Are they going to try to take my childs SSI? What rights do i have here? This just does not seem right
